Nalia had a heartbreaking start to life. At the time of her confiscation, she was found tied with a rope sitting next to her mother…who was unfortunately already being sold in the form of bushmeat. The trauma she had endured up until that point is unfathomable.
Overtime, Nalia was able to overcome her past trauma. Today, Nalia is a typical stubborn, capricious chimpanzee–two qualities which have earned her a dominant role within her group at the sanctuary.
