After being bought from a market, Tommy was turned over to the sanctuary in very rough shape. He had a rope lacerating his hips and a bullet wound that was full of pus and exposing his bone. It was clear he needed immediate medical treatment. Tommy was at risk of losing his arm.
Today, Tommy is thriving at the sanctuary with both of him arms intact. His recovery was a bit of a rollercoaster ride, but he shows no signs of his past injuries. Tommy is a generous, strong, and brave chimpanzee who has earned the position of alpha within his group.
